The schools in the state will remain closed until January 21. The Bihar government also announced the state-wide night curfew.
Amid the rise in COVID-19 cases, the Bihar government has announced fresh curbs and restrictions in the state. As per the new directives, the schools across the state will remain closed until Class 8. However, offline classes will be conducted for students of classes 9 to 12, with restrictions.
Bihar government also announced the state-wide night curfew along with the closure of schools from pre-schools to Class 8. The orders will be implemented from tomorrow; i.e. January 6. The schools in the state will remain closed until January 21. Along with Bihar, several other states like Punjab, Chattisgarh, Haryana, West Bengal, Delhi etc. have also closed the schools amid the COVID-19 surge.
As for Classes 9 to 12, offline classes are permitted in this duration but with 50 per cent capacity. For the pre-school and classes 1 to 8, the classes will be conducted in online mode. The official release stated, "Pre-school and 1 to 8 classes to remain close, online classes will continue. Educational institutions of classes 9-12 will function on 50 per cent capacity. Restrictions are to remain in effect from January 6 to 21."
It further read, "Night curfew will also be imposed from 10 pm to 5 am. Religious places to remain closed. Malls, cinemas, clubs, swimming pools, stadiums, gyms, parks will also remain close till January 21."
Earlier, the state government had closed the schools in Patna following the extremely cold weather conditions. However, with the rise in COVID-19 cases, the government has decided to close schools across the state.
