The Delhi government announced summer vacation in government and government-aided schools on May 7. According to the media reports, summer vacation will be observed from May 11 to June 30 in these schools. While announcing the summer break, the Directorate of Education (DoE) official made this clear that students studying in these schools will not be called for any vacation-related activity in view of the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
Declaring the summer break, the DoE stated, “The summer vacations in government and government-aided schools shall be observed from May 11 to June 30. However, keeping in view the COVID-19 pandemic, students shall not be called to schools for any teaching-learning activity during summer vacation."
However, the CBSE and ICSE registered schools are likely to conduct CBSE 10th, CBSE 12th, ICSE (class 10) and ISC (class 12) board exams in this period and schools are expected to work if the exams are being held before June 30.
The minister of Human Resource and Development also made this clear during his second live session that revised CBSE Class 10 Date Sheet 2020 and CBSE Class 12 Date Sheet 2020 will be out soon. However, the minister also declared that the CBSE 10th board exam is over for all the students across the country except the students of North-east Delhi.
Due to the extension of the nationwide lockdown until May 17, the academic activities in India are still disrupted. Universities, schools, colleges and other academic institutions are not open yet. However, the government is trying to prevent the academic loss of students by launching various e-learning portals on the internet.
