Decision on Haryana school reopening yet to be taken: Education Minister Kanwar Pal

Earlier, Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij informed that the authorities would not allow children between the age group of 15-18 years who are not vaccinated against COVID to attend offline classes when they reopen.

Haryana School Reopening: The government of Haryana government is yet to take a concrete decision on reopening schools and commencement of offline classes. According to ANI, while commenting on state school reopening, Education Minister Kanwar Pal said, “Though we were planning to open schools at 33% capacity on different days, but no decision yet. As the COVID cases decline, we can think over the reopening of schools.”

Earlier, while talking about school reopening, the minister informed, that the schools, colleges in the Haryana state will remain closed until January 26. Meanwhile, online teaching will continue, in which schools and colleges will take the necessary action by focusing on the preparation for the upcoming examination.

Meanwhile, talking about students’ vaccination, Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij said that the authorities would not allow children between the age group of 15-18 years who are not vaccinated against COVID to attend offline classes when they reopen. Over 15 lakh children in Haryana between 15-18 years of age are eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine. The country commenced vaccination for this age group on January 3.

States across the country are making decisions on closing and reopening of schools after analyzing the COVID-19 situation in their region. States such as Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand have shut their schools until January 31. However, various states including Maharashtra have already reopened their schools for all classes to curb academic loss. Earlier, Maharashtra has ordered the closure of schools until February 14, 2022. However, after receiving several requests from students and parents regarding the reopening of schools, the state commenced offline classes implementing precautionary against virus spread.
