The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) took the decision to resume offline classes in schools in January following a COVID-19 review meeting.

Delhi School Reopening: The National Capital has reopened schools for students from nursery to Class 8 on Monday, February 14, 2022, in view of the declining COVID -19 cases in the national capital. Welcoming the students, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal through his official Twitter handle said (in Hindi), “Schools have also reopened for primary classes in Delhi from today. Young children were also eagerly waiting for their schools to reopen. Childhood is incomplete without school. God forbid that schools have to be closed ever again.” Check his tweet below:

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) took the decision to resume offline classes in schools in January following a COVID-19 review meeting. However, schools have received directions to strictly follow the COVID-19 protocols of maintaining social distancing and wearing face masks.

Reports suggest that not many children from nursery to class 4 were seen coming to school as parents are still apprehensive about sending their wards for physical classes.

On February 7, Delhi schools resumed offline classes for students of Classes 9 to 12. The Delhi government has, however, said that the hybrid model of education for all classes will continue. Students have an option to attend online classes as well.

According to guidelines issued by the DDMA, schools have been asked to ensure regular sanitisation of the premises, thermal scanning, wearing of masks, adequate availability of soaps and hand sanitisers and staggered lunch breaks, among others.

To prevent crowding, the schools have suggested conducting lunch breaks in a phased manner in an open area, while campus counselling and guidance should be made available to the students to adjust to the new normal, as per the standard operating procedures.
