Delhi government inaugurates Delhi Teachers University; Admission begins this year

The state government has decided to set up the one-of-its-kind Delhi Teachers University will be set up on 12 acres of land at Bakkarwala village in west Delhi.

Delhi Teachers University Admissions: Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia has inaugurated the Delhi Teachers University. According to the information provided by the minister through his official Twitter handle, the state government has decided to set up the one-of-its-kind Delhi Teachers University will be set up on 12 acres of land at Bakkarwala village in west Delhi.

Candidates enrolled under Delhi Teacher University will have access to state-of-art classes, library, hall, computer labs, and conference room. According to the official statement, the campus will be able to accommodate 5,000 students. As per the official statement released earlier, the main university block will be a four-storeyed building comprising the administrative floor and education floor.

Last year, on December 20, the cabinet approved the proposal to establish Delhi Teachers University in the national capital with an objective to train ‘new generation teachers’. After the Cabinet approved to set up the university, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said, “Delhi Teachers University will also collaborate with the best national and international institutes and it will also research on the best teaching techniques.”

While inaugurating the university, Manish Sisodia said, “It gives me great pleasure to inaugurate the 'Delhi Teachers University.' This is Delhi's first of its kind university that aims to prepare well-trained and highly qualified teachers. Arvind Kejriwal-led Govt aims to inspire today's students to become tomorrow's teachers.” “The University will offer a new age integrated teacher education programme after Class 12. It will also emphasize on fundamental and applied research in education by collaborating with national and international organizations,” the minister added.
