Delhi government school to be renamed after 'Olympic Medal Winner Ravi Dahiya'

Dahiya (23) made his debut in Tokyo Olympics 2020 and won a silver medal in wrestling. He is the second Indian to get a silver medal in wrestling at the Olympics.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia met Olympic medal winner Ravi Dahiya on Tuesday, i.e. August 17, 2021, and announced that a Delhi government school in the Adarsh Nagar area will now be renamed after the Olympic medal winner. Ravi Dahiya is also an alumnus of the school. Dahiya (23) made his debut in Tokyo Olympics 2020 and won a silver medal in wrestling. He is the second Indian to get a silver medal in wrestling at the Olympics.

Announcing that the school will be renamed after the athlete, the minister tweeted, “Olympic medal winner Ravi Dahiya was today welcomed at his school in Adarsh Nagar. It was an emotional moment for his teachers. The government has decided that the school will now be named as Ravi Dahiya Bal Vidyalaya." Check out the tweet below:

Meanwhile, the government has also decided to introduce a curriculum on ‘Deshbhakti’ in Delhi government schools. While announcing the rollout of the Deshbhakti curriculum in government schools from September 27, the Chief Minister said that “the aim is to instill a feeling of pride in every child and also to prepare them to give their everything for the nation.”

The decision has been taken to give a tribute to freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. After hoisting the national flag at Delhi Secretariat to mark Independence Day, the chief minister also announced that yoga classes will be started in Delhi's halls and parks from October 2.
