Delhi schools for primary classes to be shut tomorrow onwards until the Pollution situation improves
Delhi schools shut: Amid the rising pollution in the national capital, the government of Delhi has announced the closure of schools for primary classes. Delhi schools for students studying in primary classes have received directions to remain shut until the pollution situation improves in the Capital. The decision came considering the health and safety of the students amid the rising AQI in Delhi. During a press conference, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal stated that the government is taking all the important steps and measures to control air pollution. Apart from shutting down primary schools, the minister also directed schools to put control on all outdoor activities for all students studying in Class 5 and above.
The government is also mulling implementing odd-even schemes for vehicles as a step to bring down Delhi AQI. The decision came a day after the BJP of the National Capital demanded the closing of schools for physical classes and conducting online teaching to protect children. Stating that every seventh adult and every second child in Delhi is troubled by the pollution, Delhi BJP Chief Adesh Gupta raised demands regarding school closure. Gupta also said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should talk to his counterpart in the AAP-ruled Punjab to curb the burning of paddy straw to control the smoke released by it and polluting air in Delhi. Despite the opinion divide among schools and parents regarding the closing of schools, Delhi government has finally announced it decision on school closure.
Meanwhile, schools in Noida have also been shifted to online classes until November 8 amid the rising air pollution.
