Schools across the country reopened completely from April 1 after prolonged closure in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Delhi Schools Reopen: As summer vacations have concluded, schools in the national capital reopened today, i.e. July 1. While the increasing number of novel coronavirus cases in the country resulted in an increase in safety concerns among parents and school principals, the Delhi government assured that all safety measures have been implemented for the Delhi school reopening. According to the latest COVID-19 statistics shared by the health department, Delhi recorded 865 COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 4.45 per cent and zero fatality.
While conversing with Shiksha.com, parents expressed concerns about school reopening amid the COVID-19 surge. On the other hand, teachers and principals of various schools talked about the preparations being done to keep students and staff get used to the new normal.
This year, several states had announced a short summer vacation to compensate for the learning loss caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Schools have been closed for almost two years and further closure of the educational institutions would affect the learning process of children adversely. Listing the consequence, the Experts have also raised concerns about learning losses due to the discontinuation of physical classrooms and have been warning against any further disruptions in offline classes. Delhi government working on class-wise syllabus reduction
Meanwhile, Delhi education minister Manish Sisodia talked about their decision to work on class-wise reduction of the syllabus to create more time and opportunities for strengthening foundational skills under the ‘Mission Buniyad’. Under this mission, teachers are helping children cope with studies that they missed due to no offline classes and lack of internet connectivity.
