The cut-off marks for Part A will be released on Feb 9, 2023. The answer booklets of the candidates will be evaluated only if they meet the cut-off.
IIT Bombay will release the cut-off marks of CEED 2023 for Part A on February 9, 2023. The cut-off marks will be released category-wise and will be used to shortlist candidates. All such candidates who get shortlisted will have their answer booklets evaluated and they will also be allocated a merit rank. Consequently, shortlisted candidates can participate in the seat allotment process conducted by the participating institutes.
CEED 2023 Part A cut-off - Shortlisting of candidates
To determine the cut-off marks for Part A, the admission committee will consider the following formula.
Shortlisting: Marks obtained in Part-A will be used to shortlist candidates. The cut-off marks (δ) for Part-A for shortlisting candidates in the GEN category will be μ + (σ⁄2) = δ, where μ is the average mark, and σ is the standard deviation of the distribution of marks obtained by ALL the candidates in Part-A of CEED 2023. The μ and σ will be rounded-off to two decimal places. Candidates belonging to the reserved categories shall have to fulfill a relaxed cut-off mark, which will be 0.9δ for OBC-NCL/EWS and 0.5δ for SC/ST/PwD.
CEED 2023 - Part A Cut-off vs. Admission Cutoff
Candidates may note that the cut-off marks for Part A are not the admission cut-off. In fact, the Part A cut-off is barely used to shortlist candidates.
The Part B answer booklets of shortlisted candidates will be evaluated and they will be assigned a CEED 2023 merit rank.
Meanwhile, the admission cut-off for CEED 2023 will be decided by the participating institutes at the time of admission based on parameters like CEED 2023 merit ranks of applicants, seat intake, etc.
