The new syllabus for UCEED and CEED 2024 can be checked on the official websites — uceed.iitb.ac.in and ceed.iitb.ac.in, respectively.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has introduced changes in the syllabus of the Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design (UCEED) and Common Entrance Exam for Design (CEED) 2024 exams. Candidates can check the revised syllabus for UCEED and CEED 2024 at the official websites -- uceed.iitb.ac.in and ceed.iitb.ac.in, respectively.
As per the official notice, CEED will test candidates for open, creative and inquisitive disposition, ability to think critically, capacity to comprehend and communicate, and breadth of worldview. CEED will have two parts.
CEED syllabus Part-A
CEED Part-A syllabus will have questions from the topics given below.
- Visualization and spatial reasoning: Ability to visualise and transform 2D shapes and 3D objects and their spatial relationships.
- Practical and scientific knowledge: Know-how of scientific principles and everyday objects.
- Observation and design sensitivity: Capacity to detect concealed properties in dayto-day life and think critically about them.
- Attention to details, classification, analysis, inference and prediction.
- Environment and society: General awareness of environmental, social and cultural connections with design.
- Analytical and logical reasoning: Ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative information.
- Language: Proficiency in reading and comprehending Standard English. Creativity: Grasp of verbal and non-verbal analogies, metaphors, signs and symbols.
- Art and Design knowledge: Awareness about art/artefact/product, artists/designers, art/design history and trends.
- Design methods and practices: Knowledge of media, materials, production processes, and ergonomics.
CEED syllabus Part-B
CEED Part-B syllabus will have questions from the topics given below.
- Drawing: Ability to draw products, people or scenes in proportion with good line quality, composition, proportion, perspective and shading
- Creativity: Capacity to think out-of-the-box and come-up with unique as well as diverse solutions.
- Communication: Skills to communicate concepts and ideas clearly with the help of text and visuals.
- Problem identification: Capability to understand the user and the context, knowledge of properties of materials and their appropriate use in design.
- Note: The topics given above are exhaustive and indicative of the nature of the questions. However, the CEED may not cover all the topics.
CEED 2023 is conducted by IIT Bombay for admitting candidates to the MDes and PhD courses offered by IISc Bangalore, IITs at Bombay, Delhi, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Kanpur, Roorkee and many other institutes. However, UCEED 2023 is for admission to the BDes programmes offered by participating institutes. There are currently five participating institutes for UCEED 2023 that offer a combined intake of 199 seats for the BDes programmes at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad and IIITDM Jabalpur.
CEED 2023 result releasing tomorrow
(IIT) Bombay will announce the results of the Common Entrance Exam for Design (CEED) 2023 tomorrow (on March 7, 2023). The results will be declared online at the admission portal of CEED 2023 - ceed.iitb.ac.in/2023. The CEED 2023 exam was conducted on January 22, 2023. Candidates can check exam results by logging into the result portal using their registered email id and password. Note that admission to the BDes program is being conducted through the UCEED 2023 exam. The results of UCEED 2023 will be announced on March 30, 2023.
