In a span of four days, as many as 27 students of the National Institute of Design (NID) have been tested Covid-19 positive.

Till yesterday, the number of Covid-19 infected students in Ahmedabad-based National Institute of Design (NID) was 24, and today on the fourth day, the tally has reached 27 with three more students testing positive.

Additional Medical Officer Health of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) Bhavin Joshi said, “As a precaution, (public) gatherings and educational activities have been discontinued at the institute till further instructions. The testing procedure is on at the institute and will be completed by tomorrow,” as reported by Indian Express.

A total of 27 positive cases found in NID, confirms registrar

The registrar of NID said, "A total of 27 positive cases have been reported so far, of which 24 are undergraduate students living on campus. The others are three post graduate students staying outside the campus. All the students have mild symptoms," as reported by TOI.

The college's hostel has been declared a micro-containment zone as most of the cases were from the hostel.

The registrar has said that all infected students are shifted to isolation and provided the necessary amenities and all other Covid protocols are being followed.

India reports 2,288 fresh COVID-19 cases, 10 deaths 

While the fear of fourth Covid-19 wave is looming India, in the last 24 hours, the country has reported 2,288 fresh COVID-19 cases with 10 casualities. The total tally of COVID-19 cases is 4,31,07,689, while the active cases dipped to 19,637, as per the Health Ministry data.
