The category-wise syllabus and relevant topics for NIFT entrance exam 2023 is live on its official website. Shiksha has jotted down some important points to keep in mind for NIFT candidates 2023.
The NIFT 2023 entrance exam is divided as following:
- Written tests - GAT and CAT (only for design programmes)
- Situation Test (B.Des) / PI (All PG programmes)
The GAT test will be held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, while the CAT test will be held in pen-paper mode. B.F.Tech candidates only need to appear in the GAT written test and no further round will be conducted. No GROUP DISCUSSION (GD) round is mentioned in NIFT 2023 prospectus. The objective type tests will have negative marking. The negative marks for any question will be 25% of the full marks for the question (for each wrong answer).

The GAT section will have multiple choice questions related to:
- Quantitative Ability
- Communication Ability and English Comprehension
- Analytical Ability and Logical Ability
- General Knowledge and Current Affairs
While the CAT part of the exam will carry drawing questions based on:
- Color Theory
- Illustration
- Sketching skills
- Design Solution
The situation test is a hands-on test that will evaluate the candidate’s skills for material handling and innovative ability in a given situation with a given set of materials.
The PI will evaluate the following skills of the candidate.
- Career orientation
- Aptness for the course
- Overall personal achievements in academics and co-curricular activities
- Communication
- General awareness and aptitude, creative and lateral thinking
