IIT Bombay conducted the UCEED 2023 entrance exam on January 22, 2023 (9 am - 12 noon). The exam was conducted in a center-based mode in 24 cities across the country. The UCEED 2023 question paper has two parts - 1) a computer-based Part A and 2) an offline-based Part B. On exam day, the candidate needs to report at 7 am (as per instructions mentioned on the admit card).

UCEED Counselling 2023 - Eligibility Criteria for Applying for B.Des
To participate in the UCEED 2023 counseling, the candidate must meet the following conditions.

Qualifying examination
The candidate must have passed all five subjects in the qualifying examination (Class XII or equivalent) in 2022 or 2023. Those who appeared for the first time in their qualifying examination in 2021 or earlier are NOT eligible
.
Candidates from the Science Stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as subjects are eligible to apply to ALL the five participating institutes.
Candidates from any other stream (Science without Mathematics or Physics or Chemistry, Commerce, and Arts & Humanities) are eligible to apply to IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and IIT Hyderabad.
For admission to BDes at IIITDM Jabalpur, only students with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology at 10 2 are eligible.
Students from Arts or Humanities at 10 2 are not eligible to apply for BDes admissions at IIITDM Jabalpur.
Appearing for the qualifying exam in 2023
Such candidates should ensure that (a) all parts of their final examination are completed by the date of application for admission, and (b) proof of having passed the qualifying examination with the required eligibility is submitted by September 30, 2023, to the admitting institute.
Passing grade not available; only letter grades available
If a qualifying Examination Board awards only letter grades without providing information on the passing grade on the grade sheet, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the Board specifying the passing grade and upload it along with the grade sheet. In case such a certificate is not provided, the decision taken by the UCI Committee will be final.

The Joint Admission Process will have three seat allotment rounds. The 1st round of seat allotment will be announced on April 10, 2023. This will be followed by the 2nd and 3rd rounds of seat allotments on May 10, 2023, and June 10, 2023, respectively.

The cut-off rank is the minimum score (or merit rank) a candidate needs to secure in their given category for admission to the B.Des program at any of the five participating institutes.
This means, if a candidate fails to meet the cut-off criteria, he or she will not get admission.

The draft key and question paper will be uploaded on the UCEED 2023 admission portal on January 24, 2023.
- Objection filing - Any comments or objections to the draft answer key will be accepted between January 24 & 26 (by 5 pm). Objections have to be submitted through the candidate portal.
- Master question booklet - The order in which a question appears may differ for each candidate. Hence, the candidate must use the Master Question Paper as a reference for uploading their comments/queries.
- Obections filed through any other mode other than through the candidate portal will not be accepted.

Preservation of Part B Answer Booklets
The Part B answer booklet will not be shared with the candidate. Nor the candidate can ask for reevaluation of the answer booklet.

Shortlisting of candidates
Candidates will be shortisted considering Part A marks. IIT Bomaby will release cut-off marks for Part A on February 9, 2023. All candidates who meet the cut-off marks will get shortlisted.
The cut-offs (δ) for Part-A marks to shortlist candidates in the OPEN category will be ???? (????⁄2) = δ, where ???? and ???? are the average marks and standard deviation of distribution of marks obtained by ALL the candidates in Part-A of UCEED 2023.
The ????, ????, and ???? will be rounded-off to two decimal places.
The candidates belonging to the reserved categories shall have to fulfil a relaxed cut-off mark, which will be 0.9???? for OBC-NCL/EWS, 0.5 ???? for SC/ST/PwD, where ???? is the cut-off mark for OPEN category.

Part B of the UCEED 2023 question paper includes a sketching-based question. The answer booklet for Part B will be manually evaluated by expert examiners. Also, considering Part B is a subjective paper, there will be no modal questions.

IIT Bombay will release the master question booklet of UCEED 2023 on January 24, 2023. The booklet can be downloaded from the official admission portal.

- It was a lengthy paper, but not that hard
- The drawing part (Part B) of course was a bit tough, but that being said I am not very good at drawing.

Multiple cat images were mixed, and you have to count how many cats were there.

Who can apply for admission under OBC-NCL category?

The difficulty level of the UCEED 2023 was of moderate difficulty level. But there were some difficult questions as well, especially MSQ related questions from Part A.
In the NAT part as well, there were some tricky questions. Otherwise, the difficulty level is comparable to last year’s UCEED question paper.
For Part B, you are given a question where a boy is dancing, while there is an online dance session conducted on the laptop. The mother is looking at the boy from behind, while a cat is moving around. The candidate has to make an illustration.

The difference between UCEED participating institutes and result-sharing institutes is given below:
- Participating institutes - These institutes will fill all their seats on the basis of UCEED 2023 scores. Also, they will participate in the Joint Admission Process (or counseling) conducted by IIT Bombay.
Result-sharing institutes - The result-sharing institutes will only allocate some of their seats for UCEED 2023 qualified candidates. Eligibility criteria for admission to the B.Des program
To appear in UCEED 2023, the candidate has to meet the following eligibility conditions:
- Age limit - The applicant must be born on or after October 1, 1998. In the case of candidates from SC, ST, and PwD categories, a relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit is applicable.
- Number of attempts - UCEED can be attempted a maximum of two times and that too in consecutive years.

Pictorial and diagrammatic questions to test understanding of transformation and/or manipulation of 2D shapes and 3D objects and their spatial relationships, knowledge of practical and everyday mechanical and scientific concepts.
Observation and design sensitivity
Ability to detect concealed properties in ordinary things, people, situations, and events, and thinking critically about them. Applying attention to certain details, analysing, reasoning, classifying, inferring and predicting. Ability to discern subtle differences in visual properties and aesthetic outcomes.

UCEED 2023 exam - Reporting Time Starts
As per instructions given in the UCEED 2023 admit card, applicants need to report at the assigned exam center at 7 am. Candidates need to make sure that they are not late, as there are exam formalities like registration and candidate indentity verifiction processes to be completed before the commencement of the exam.

Reach the UCEED 2023 exam centre on time
It is recommended that the candidate starts a bit early for the exam centre as one can’t always correctly predict the traffic scenario. Reaching the exam centre will ensure the heartbeat remains normal; on the other hand, if you get late, it will get the heart beat racing, which is not at all welcome on such an important day.

Last minute UCEED 2023 exam-prep tips
The most important thing for the candidate in the last few hours leading up to the exam is to stay calm and focused. Also, it is better not to indulge in speculation and think too much about the future.
Avoid reading any new topics at this stage. Rather go through the notes for quick revision one last time.
Rather stay in the present and focus on the task at hand. For instance, ensure that you have packed all essential documents, stationery, etc.
Also, make sure you reach the exam centre on time.

Biometric verification of candidates
The invigilator and IT officials present at the exam center will conduct bimetric verification of the candidate.
The thumb impression and photograph of the candidate will be collected to verify the identity of the candidate.
