The BDes admission application counseling processing fee for applicants of all categories

and genders is ₹ 3000 (Rupees Three Thousand only). The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

The admission committee will consider the following factors for allocating seats.

1. UCEED 2023 merit rank 
2. Choices opted at the time of choice filling.
3. Category of the candidate

The category-wise seat acceptance fee is given in the table below.

There joint admission process of UCEED 2023 will have three seat allotment rounds. Here is the step-wise counseling process.

1. Eligible candidates need to submit the B.Des admission application form
2. Allotment of seats / Acceptance and Payment of Seat-acceptance Fee; seats will be allotted on the basis of UCEED 2023 merit rank.
3. Participation in post seat allotment options
4. Candidates who have accepted their seats and paid the relevant need need to report to the allotted institute

To participate in the UCEED 2023 counseling, the candidate must meet the following conditions.

The Joint Admission Process will have three seat allotment rounds. The 1st round of seat allotment will be announced on April 10, 2023. This will be followed by the 2nd and 3rd rounds of seat allotments on May 10, 2023, and June 10, 2023, respectively.

The cut-off for UCEED 2023 will depend on the following factors:

1. The number of applicants
2. Seat intake
3. The category under which admission is sought
4. The merit ranks of applicants
5. The popularity of the participating college, etc.

The cut-off rank is the minimum score (or merit rank) a candidate needs to secure in their given category for admission to the B.Des program at any of the five participating institutes.

This means, if a candidate fails to meet the cut-off criteria, he or she will not get admission.

This is how the UCEED 2023 cut-off (or opening and closing ranks) notification would look like:

The Joint Admission Process is a type of centralized counseling process conducted for shortlisted candidates. 

As part of the admission (or counseling process), eligible candidates need to submit online applications between March 14-31, 2023.

The rank lists for UCEED 2023 will be prepared by considering the total marks secured by the candidate in Part A and Part B.

The merit rank will be one of the criteria for UCEED 2023 seat allotment.

The scorecard for the UCEED 2023 will be made available on March 11, 2023; the last date to download the scorecard is June 13, 2023.

Candidates who are shortlisted will be allocated a merit rank; however, for other candidates, only the Part A score will be released.

The results of the design entrance exam will be announced on March 9, 2023. Results can be checked online at - uceed.iitb.ac.in. 

To check their results, the candidate needs to log-in to the result portal using their user login and password.

The candidate response sheet for Part A will be released on the UCEED 2023 candidate portal on January 24, 2023.

The response sheet will be available for download only till UCEED 2023 results are declared on March 9, 2023.

The draft key and question paper will be uploaded on the UCEED 2023 admission portal on January 24, 2023.

• Objection filing - Any comments or objections to the draft answer key will be accepted between January 24 & 26 (by 5 pm). Objections have to be submitted through the candidate portal.
• Master question booklet - The order in which a question appears may differ for each candidate. Hence, the candidate must use the Master Question Paper as a reference for uploading their comments/queries. 
• Obections filed through any other mode other than through the candidate portal will not be accepted.

The Part B answer booklet will not be shared with the candidate. Nor the candidate can ask for reevaluation of the answer booklet.

Further, the answer booklets of Part B will be preserved ONLY for a period of three months from the date of declaration of UCEED results.

Candidates who get shortlisted will have their Part B paper evaluated. Also, all shortlisted candidates will be assigned a UCEED 2023 merit rank.

Candidates will be shortisted considering Part A marks. IIT Bomaby will release cut-off marks for Part A on February 9, 2023. All candidates who meet the cut-off marks will get shortlisted.

The cut-offs (δ) for Part-A marks to shortlist candidates in the OPEN category will be ???? (????⁄2) = δ, where ???? and ???? are the average marks and standard deviation of distribution of marks obtained by ALL the candidates in Part-A of UCEED 2023.

The ????, ????, and ???? will be rounded-off to two decimal places. 

The candidates belonging to the reserved categories shall have to fulfil a relaxed cut-off mark, which will be 0.9???? for OBC-NCL/EWS, 0.5 ???? for SC/ST/PwD, where ???? is the cut-off mark for OPEN category.

IIT Bombay will not entertain any requests for re-totaling or re-evaluation of the UCEED 2023 exam.

Part B of the UCEED 2023 question paper includes a sketching-based question. The answer booklet for Part B will be manually evaluated by expert examiners. Also, considering Part B is a subjective paper, there will be no modal questions.

Requests for review of the computer-based Part A will not be entertained. So, the candidate cannot request for re-totalling of the Part-A marks of the examination paper.

The exam conducting authority will release the cut-off marks for Part A on February 9, 2023. The cut-off mark is the minimum mark a candidate needs to secure in Part A for evaluation of Part B answer booklet.

If a candidate fails to secure the cut-off marks, then his or her Part B answer booklet will not be evaluated.

IIT Bombay will release the master question booklet of UCEED 2023 on January 24, 2023. The booklet can be downloaded from the official admission portal. 

Using the master question booklet and the answer keys, the candidate will be able to calculate the probable scores and one’s chances of admission.

Ashish Gupta shares UCEED 2023 exam analysis: 

1. Part B had human drawing questions, so I found it a little difficult.
2. Part was comparatively easy, though I found NAT questions to be difficult. MCQs questions were just like in the previous years.
3. The cut-off would be higher this year, as previous years’ papers were more difficult compared to this year’s paper.

Aadil shares his reaction to the UCEED 2023 exam.

• Expected cut-off: 150
• The difficulty level of Part B was moderate
• The paper was very lengthy.

Aadya shares her feedback on the UCEED 2023 exam:

1. The difficulty level was as expected
2. I faced no difficulty in completing the paper in the allotted time.
3. The drawing part was also very interesting

5. The difficulty level of Part A was easy; maybe because I am a science student

The final key for the UCEED 2023 exam will be released on January 30, 2023. The final key will be released after considering feedback given by the candidate.

The draft answer key for UCEED 2023 will be released on January 24, 2023. The draft key will only be released for Part A.

Candidates can challenge the draft key up to January 26, 2023 (5 pm).

My name is Ayush, and I appeared in the UCEED 2023 exam.

Reactions:

• It was a lengthy paper, but not that hard
• The drawing part (Part B) of course was a bit tough, but that being said I am not very good at drawing.
• The paper was overall easy and lengthy.
• I missed around 4-5 questions in Part A, and expecting around 150 marks out of 240.

Multiple cat images were mixed, and you have to count how many cats were there. 

Two trains of equal length and equal speed towards each other; the candidate has to calculate how much time it will take to cross each other.

To appear in the UCEED 2023 exam, the candidate had to first get registered (the registration window is now closed).

The category-wise registration fees for the exam are given below.

To be eligible for the OBC-NCL category, the name of the backward class should be in the current central list of OBCs. If the candidate belongs to the state list, but is not covered in the central list, then he or she will not be entitled to claim the benefit of reservation.

Before the student is allowed to leave the UCEED 2023 exam venue, they are being verified. So it is taking longer for students to come out of the exam venue.

Anuj Kumar, a UCEED 2023 aspirant shares his feedback.

The difficulty level of the UCEED 2023 was of moderate difficulty level. But there were some difficult questions as well, especially MSQ related questions from Part A. 

In the NAT part as well, there were some tricky questions. Otherwise, the difficulty level is comparable to last year’s UCEED question paper.

For Part B, you are given a question where a boy is dancing, while there is an online dance session conducted on the laptop. The mother is looking at the boy from behind, while a cat is moving around. The candidate has to make an illustration. 

The category-wise reservation of seats for various categories is given below.

OBC-NCL: 27%

Scheduled Caste (SC): 15% 

Scheduled Tribe (ST): 7.5% 

PwD candidates: 5% (Horizontal reservation)

Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): 10% 

As per candidates who have appeared in the UCEED 2023 exam, the initial reaction is the question paper was difficult.

The entrance exam has formally concluded at 12 noon. Students will start rolling out of the exam hall shortly. We will start brining you student reactions as soon as the stundents leave the venue.

Simply appearing in the UCEED 2023 exam or being allotted a merit rank doesn’t guarantee nor provide any automatic entitlement to admission to the BDes program at the participating institutes. 

Instead, the allocation of seats will be done through the joint seat allocation process conducted by IIT Bombay.

The UCEED 2023 exam will conclude at 12 noon. Candidates can start leaving the exam hall once the exam is over. Also, at the time of exiting the hall, they will have to handover the answer booklets for Part B, which is a sketching-based test.  

The UCEED 2023 exam is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, under the guidance of the UCEED-CEED Implementation Committee 2023 (UCI Committee).

The UCEED exam is open for all nationalities (Indian/Foreign).

The difference between UCEED participating institutes and result-sharing institutes is given below:

• Participating institutes - These institutes will fill all their seats on the basis of UCEED 2023 scores. Also, they will participate in the Joint Admission Process (or counseling) conducted by IIT Bombay.

Result-sharing institutes - The result-sharing institutes will only allocate some of their seats for UCEED 2023 qualified candidates. Moreover, these institutes will not participate in the Joint Admission Process conducted by IIT Bombay. So, applicants will have to apply to the result-sharing institute directly based on UCEED 2023 scores.

To appear in UCEED 2023, the candidate has to meet the following eligibility conditions:

• Age limit - The applicant must be born on or after October 1, 1998. In the case of candidates from SC, ST, and PwD categories, a relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit is applicable. 
• Number of attempts - UCEED can be attempted a maximum of two times and that too in consecutive years.
• Qualifying exam - The candidate must have passed all subjects in the 10 2 or equivalent in 2022, OR must be appearing in the qualifying exam for the first time in 2023. Also, UCEED is open to students from all streams - Science, Commerce, and Arts & Humanities.

The scores of the UCEED 2023 exam will be considered for admission to the B.Des program for the current session only (2023-24). Or, in other words, the scores of UCEED is valid only for ONE year.

The UCEED 2023 exam has two parts. The syllabus for each part is given below.

Part B will have ONE question from the following topic:

Drawing: Ability to draw products, people, or scenes in proportion with good line 

quality, composition, proportion, perspective, and shading.

The category-wise seat intake for UCEED 2023 participating institutes is given below.

There are five participating institutes of UCEED 2023.

1. IIT Bombay
2. IIT Delhi
3. IIT Guwahati
4. IIT Hyderabad 
5. IIITDM Jabalpur

The UCEED 2023 exam will commence sharp at 9 am. Also, once the exam commences, no candidate will be allowed to leave the exam hall until the exam is over.

The exam will end at 12 noon.

The following items will not be allowed inside the exam hall. Any candidate found in possession of these items may be disqualified or action may be taken.

The candidate must bring the following stationery with them.

If the identity of a candidate found to be doubtful by exam officials, exam officials have the discretion to not allow the candidate to sit in the UCEED 2023 exam.

However, if the candidate is allowed to sit in the exam, in that case the candidature of such candidates will be subject to the decision of UCI Committee, which will be final and binding.

The UCEED 2023 question paper will have two parts. The question paper structure for both parts is given below.

UCEED 2023 exam schedule

Carefully check the address of the UCEED 2023 exam centre mentioned on the admit card. Read the entire address, and not just the first few initials. 

It happens so many times that students only take a cursory glance at the exam centre address only to find out with very little time left for the exam to commence that the address was some other place. 

The CEED 2023 exam is conducted for admission to the M.Des and PhD courses offered by participating institutes. But note that, unlike UCEED, IIT Bombay will not conduct any centralized counseling process. Instead, the candidate will have to apply to the participating institute based on CEED 2023 merit rank.

As per instructions given in the UCEED 2023 admit card, applicants need to report at the assigned exam center at 7 am. Candidates need to make sure that they are not late, as there are exam formalities like registration and candidate indentity verifiction processes to be completed before the commencement of the exam.

The CEED 2023 exam, just like, the UCEED 2023 exam, will be conducted on January 22, 2023 (9 am - 12 noon). The exam will be administered in center-based mode in 24 cities.

It is recommended that the candidate starts a bit early for the exam centre as one can’t always correctly predict the traffic scenario. Reaching the exam centre will ensure the heartbeat remains normal; on the other hand, if you get late, it will get the heart beat racing, which is not at all welcome on such an important day.

The most important thing for the candidate in the last few hours leading up to the exam is to stay calm and focused. Also, it is better not to indulge in speculation and think too much about the future.

Avoid reading any new topics at this stage. Rather go through the notes for quick revision one last time.

Rather stay in the present and focus on the task at hand. For instance, ensure that you have packed all essential documents, stationery, etc. 

Also, make sure you reach the exam centre on time.

The invigilator and IT officials present at the exam center will conduct bimetric verification of the candidate. 

The thumb impression and photograph of the candidate will be collected to verify the identity of the candidate.

The exam conducting has so far not released any specific guidelines related to COVID-19. So, the candidate may follow the usual exam-day guidelines issued by exam officials.

As per instructions given on the UCEED 2023 admit card, the candidate needs to report at the UCEED 2023 exam center at 7 am.

Note that candidates will be allowed to enter the exam center even after 7 am, but it is advisable not to be late as there are registration and other exam formalities to be completed.

The UCEED 2023 exam will be held in the following cities. Note that each of these cities may have one or more UCEED 2023 test centres.

The UCEED 2023 exam will be conducted in a center-based mode in 24 cities across the country. The candidate was given an opportunity to select their choice of exam city at the time of filling out the UCEED 2023 application form.

The candidate shoudn’t impersonate or acdopt unfair means in the exam like cheating. Any candidate found to be indulged in such activities will be disqualifed and criminal proceedings will be initiated against such candidates.

On the day of the UCEED 2023 exam, the candidate needs to bring along the following documents:

• UCEED 2023 admit card
• A valid log-in ID

Note that no candidate will be allowed to sit in the exam without these documents.

The UCEED 2023 exam will be conducted on January 22, 2023. 

Exam Timings: 9 am - 12 noon.

Reporting time: 7 am

The question paper for UCEED 2023 will have two parts - Part A and Part B. Both parts are mandatory.

The test duration for Part A will be 2 hours 30 minutes, while Part B will be of 30 minutes duration.
