World University of Design (WUD) 4th Convocation Ceremony celebrated the students' transition from budding designers to professionals ready to shape the future of the design industry.

WUD 4th Convocation Ceremony: The World University of Design (WUD), India’s pioneering institution dedicated to education in creative fields, hosted its 4th convocation ceremony on its Sonipat campus. This year, the university conferred degrees upon 220 graduates, marking a significant milestone in their educational journeys. The ceremony celebrated the students' transition from budding designers to professionals ready to shape the future of the design industry.

Honoring Excellence: Luminaries Receive Honorary Doctorates

WUD also honored three renowned figures in the world of art, film, and architecture with Honorary Doctorate Degrees for their outstanding contributions to their respective fields. The recipients were:

  • K.S. Radhakrishnan, a modernist sculptor who blends traditional and contemporary styles, celebrated for his iconic sculptures like Maiya and Musui.
  • Bappa Ray, an anthropological filmmaker whose documentaries have preserved India's rural and tribal cultures and earned global recognition, including UNESCO honors.
  • Ashok B. Lall, a visionary architect and educator who has advanced sustainable design practices and championed low-carbon, affordable housing projects.

These luminaries have reshaped their industries and continue to inspire the next generation of creative professionals.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Sameep Shastri, Vice Chairman of the BRICS Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BRICS CCI), delivered an inspiring speech during the convocation. He emphasized the importance of creativity, innovation, and cross-cultural collaboration in the rapidly evolving global landscape. Mr. Shastri also praised the graduates for embodying the vision of BRICS nations, which continue to strengthen ties and foster international progress.

He said, "It is an honor to be part of the 4th Convocation at the World University of Design. These graduates are the visionaries who will drive progress and foster collaboration across borders. In his address, Dr Sanjay Gupta, Vice Chancellor of WUD, expressed his pride in the graduating class and their achievements. He noted that the university has nurtured creativity, resilience, and a global outlook in its students, equipping them to tackle challenges and create meaningful impacts. He also highlighted the recognition of the honorary doctorate recipients as a source of inspiration for both students and professionals.
