Dharmendra Pradhan urges Allahabad University to fill up vacant teaching posts
598 teaching posts are lying vacant in the university of which 360 are of assistant professors alone
Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan has urged Allahabad University administration to fill up the vacant teaching posts at the earliest. The central university has around 600 teaching posts lying vacant for years.
Union Education Minister speaking on the occasion of the annual convocation of the Allahabad University requested and expected the Allahabad University to start the process of recruitment on the vacant posts of academic and non-teaching posts at the earliest for the welfare of the society and the students.
As per data shared by the education ministry in Lok Sabha, 598 teaching posts are lying vacant in the university of which 360 are assistant professors, 169 or associate professors and 69 professors.
Pradhan also inaugurated a chair at the university in the name of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay for a period of five years. “Named after the founder of Antyodaya, Pandit Deendayal ji, this chair will play an important role in innovation, quality higher education and public welfare,” Pradhan wrote on Twitter.
He said: “Under the new National Education Policy, I firmly believe that India will play a leading role in making India a knowledge-based economy, and in taking forward India's multi-faceted language and knowledge traditions.”
Talking about the historical role Allahabad University has played over the decades, the education minister said that it is not only an educational institution but a laboratory that gives leadership to the country and the world, giving the philosophy of invaluable life.
“I have full faith that the students coming out from here will fulfil their responsibility for the country and humanity,” Pradhan said.
