1,497 students awarded degrees at IIT BHU convocation

Shloka Negi, a BTech student of Pharmaceutical Engineering and Technology, stole the show with maximum number of medals. She was honoured with 10 gold medals, one silver medal and two awards.

A total of 1,497 graduates were awarded degrees at the 11th convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi. Shloka Negi, a BTech student of Pharmaceutical Engineering and Technology, bagged the maximum number of medals. She was honoured with 10 gold medals, one silver medal and two awards. She was also awarded the President's Gold Medal for displaying overall excellence in the academic field. Ishita Asthana, a BTech student in Electronics Engineering, was awarded the Director’s Gold Medal for her outstanding all-around performance and leadership qualities.  

Besides, Ashwin Srivastava of Electrical Engineering won seven medals and awards, while Aastha Maurya of Mechanical Engineering won five gold medals and one award, Piyush Saran of Electronics Engineering bagged four gold medals and two awards. 

As many as 791 BTech, 271 IDD, 299 MTech/MPharm and 42 MSc students were awarded degrees and 94 research scholars were awarded doctoral degrees. Vijay Kumar Saraswat, Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University and member of NITI Aayog, was the chief guest on the occasion.  

Shyam Bihari Dwivedi, Dean of Academic Affairs, conducted the prize distribution ceremony. A total of seven alumni were awarded the Distinguished Alumnus/Alumni Award 2022-23 in the convocation programme. Admission to the IIT BHU BTech course is based on Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main/ JEE Advanced scores followed by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) Counselling.
