37,000 degrees awarded at IIT BHU 102th convocation
IIT BHU convocation: As many as 1,599 gold medals, silver medals and prizes across faculties were presented to the students.
A total of 37,000 degrees were awarded to graduands during the 102th convocation ceremony organised at the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) (IIT BHU). As many as 1,599 gold medals, silver medals and prizes across faculties were presented to the students. A total of 91 graduands were presented various medals in various categories for the years 2020, 2021 and 2022. Nikesh Arora, chairperson and chief executive officer, Palo Alto, was the chief guest on the occasion. Vice-Chancellor Prof Sudhir Kumar Jain felicitated the chief guest.
Arora encouraged the graduating students to take risks in life and not get comfortable with a no-risk comfort zone. He administered a pledge to the students for promoting the cause of morality and sound learning and upholding social order and well-being of people.
The total number of medals and prizes being awarded for the year 2020 was 11,750, 12,032 for 2021 and 14,111 for 2022. For the year 2020, 433 students were awarded gold medals, nine silver (442 in total) and 79 prizes. Eleven students were named for gold medal in ‘supplementary medal list’ and two in ‘certificate/diploma’ list. Similarly, 13 students were awarded prizes in the ‘supplementary medal list’ and three in ‘certificate/diploma’ list.
