Seven engineering students have been suspended for ragging their juniors at a college affiliated to Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University in Kanpur. The incident of ragging was reported from the Shivaji Boys Hostel where the first-year BTech students were constantly troubled by some of the senior students.

The UGC has urged that certain preventive steps be taken, ranging from the installation of CCTV cameras on college property to the creation of an anti-ragging cell.
