AICTE announces admission criteria for BTech courses via lateral entry
AICTE notified that the universities will offer suitable bridge courses such as mathematics, physics, engineering drawing, etc, for the students coming from diverse backgrounds to achieve desired learning outcomes of the programme.
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has announced the eligibility criteria for admission to BTech/ BE programmes in engineering and technology through lateral entry to second year.
Eligibility criteria for AICTE BTech, BE Admissions 2022 via lateral entry
As per the latest notice issued by the AICTE, below is the eligibility criteria for admission in BTech/BE programme in engineering and technology through lateral entry to second year.
- A candidate should have passed a minimum of three years or two years (lateral entry) diploma examination with at least 45 per cent marks (40 per cent marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)) in any branch of engineering and technology. OR
- He/she should have passed BSc degree from a recognised university as defined by the University Grants Commission (UGC), with at least 45 per cent marks in aggregate (40 per cent marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)) and passed Class XII examination with mathematics as one of the subjects. Or
- He/she should have passed DVoc stream in the same or allied sector.
The AICTE further notified that the universities will offer suitable bridge courses such as mathematics, physics, engineering drawing, etc, for the students coming from diverse backgrounds to achieve desired learning outcomes of the programme.
It is therefore clarified that BVoc course is treated on a par with diploma in engineering and BSc degree for the purpose of admission to BTech/BE programme through lateral entry.
