AICTE asks institutes to apply for new technical textiles courses
The online applications can be submitted on the online education application portal under http://nttm.texmin.gov.in/ till March 2, 2023 (5 pm).
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has issued an important circular to all vice-chancellors of technical universities and directors/principals of AICTE-approved institutions.
The official circular read, “With a view to promote the technical textiles sector in the country, the Government of lndia is implementing the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM) with outlay of INR 1480 crore for the period 2020-2021 to 2023-2024, with the following components: research, innovation and development; promotion and market development; export promotion component and Education, training, skill development.”
It read, “In order to enhance the level of education in technical textiles of undergraduate or postgraduate level and to ensure that adequate talent and skill sets are developed in the segment, the Ministry of Textiles has launched ‘General Guidelines for Enabling of Academic Institutes in Technical Textiles - for Private & Public Institutes’. These guidelines cover the funding for upgradation/enhancement of laboratory equipment, training of lab personnel and specialised training of faculty members of the relevant department/specialisation in the university/institute. Both public-funded institutions as well as private institutions having NIRF ranking will be eligible for support.”
It further read, “The detailed general guidelines are available on the official website of the Ministry of Textiles under National Technical Textile Mission (NTTM) web page – https://www.texmin.nic.irVtechnical-textiles-mission. All AICTE-approved institutions having undergraduate and postgraduate courses in textile technology are encouraged to participate in this scheme by submitting their proposals to the Ministry of Textiles, New Delhi.”
