AICTE Releases Guidelines for Engineering, Management and Other Courses for Working Professionals
AICTE has issued guidelines for institutions to conduct BTech, MTech, engineering diploma, management and other courses for working professionals for the 2024-25 academic session. Check AICTE set guidelines here
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has set guidelines for institutions to run Bachelor of Technology (BTech), Master of Technology (MTech), engineering diploma, management, design, planning, applied arts & crafts and hotel management & catering Technology courses for working professionals. AICTE guidelines will commence from 2024–25 academic year.
As per the new guidelines, institutions with more than 80 percent average enrollment over the previous three years are eligible to begin the course. Institutions can launch up to three courses, and they can only conduct them if one-third of the students enrol in each. The institutions must adhere to the state or union territory’s reservation policy, if applicable.

What is the eligibility for admission?
Professionals working in Registered Industry/Organization (Central / State) /Private/Public Limited Companies/ MSMEs located within 50 KM radial distance from the Institute are eligible. They must have a minimum of one year of full-time/regular working experience. The qualification will be same as candidates eligible for Lateral Entry to the Second Year (As Specified in the Approval Process Handbook published by AICTE from time to time).
Academic Requirements as per AICTE Guidelines
They must note that total credits as specified in the AICTE Model Curriculum (or) Affiliating University are required to be earned for getting the degree. As per the AICTE regulation, up to 40% of credit transfer is permitted through MOOCs / SWAYAM. However, for Diploma level institutes, other MOOC platforms similar to NPTEL/SWAYAM recognised by the State/Central Government may also be considered. The examination will be the same as the regular students.
