Engineering exam question papers leaked

Engineering paper leak: Priyadarshini College of Engineering affiliated with the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) witnessed another paper leak incident during summer exams. Six question papers of the Bachelor of Engineering (CBS) sixth-semester were allegedly leaked on social media on July 1. According to the TOI report, out of all the engineering colleges across four districts under the Nagpur University (NU), the exam committee changed the question papers only at Priyadarshini College of Engineering (PCE). Also, only BE civil engineering sixth semester question paper was changed. However, the varsity had scheduled 12 papers from different engineering branches in the day. leaked included subjects like Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical etc.

The report suggests that NU did not release any instruction to other colleges to replace the question paper set despite knowing that the papers have got leaked on social media. Upon contacting several other colleges, the source revealed that all exams took off as per the schedule and no instructions were received to withdraw the question paper.

As per of online exam reforms, the NU has been mailing the question paper an hour before the start of exam. The paper is printed at the exam centre before distribution. The director of examinations and evaluation Prafulla Sabale received a photo of the leaked question paper who then alerted PCE principal and asked him to hold it back. Sabale also visited the exam centre.

PCE principal Krishna Dhale told TOI that they have 15 engineering branches out of which 12 had their sixth-semester exam on Friday. “I received only the ‘Steel Structures’ question paper from BE civil branch which had gone viral on social media. The exam was delayed as we immediately replaced the leaked paper with fresh question paper set,” he said.

Dhale said he was yet to file a complaint with the cyber cell of Nagpur police as he was busy with a grievance committee meeting on Saturday. “We had discussed with the university exam director regarding the filing of the complaint. Prima facie it appears that the paper was not leaked by clicking an image by a student. We are trying to find out how it could have been leaked,” said Dhale.
