BTech student hangs herself to death in Hyderabad

The deceased identified as Sravani was pursuing BTech in Computer Science Engineering from Malla Reddy Engineering College at Petbasheerabad, Hyderabad. 

A third-year BTech student of Malla Reddy Engineering College at Petbasheerabad in Medchal district, Hyderabad, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan.  

The deceased has been identified as Sravani. She was pursuing BTech in Computer Science Engineering from the college. According to the police, the girl allegedly ended her life by hanging herself from the ceiling fan in her hostel room. The police said the girl allegedly took the extreme step when none of her roommates were present in the hostel. When her roommates returned to the hostel, they found the body hanging from the ceiling fan. 

The police said the preliminary investigation revealed that she skipped a class in the morning and the cause behind the death is yet to be ascertained. The police have registered a case and an investigation into the matter is on. 

A semi-decomposed body of a 23-year-old BTech student, Faizan Ahmed, was recovered from his hostel room on the IIT Kharagpur campus recently. Ahmed was a third-year student at the Mechanical Engineering Department at IIT Kharagpur. The mother of the deceased alleged that he could not have died by suicide and demanded a proper probe into the matter, the institute claimed that no foul play was suspected and said it was looking into the matter. The family members of the deceased have also alleged that they were yet to receive a report of the postmortem examination.
