Chennai engineering colleges placement 2020: Top recruiters participated with best job offers
At the College of Engineering, Guindy, DE Shaw gave the best job offer by giving students a starting salary of Rs 39.6 lakh per annum.
Placement season of the academic year 2019-2020 is on and according to various placement reports being released by different institutes, students are bagging best of the best job roles and salary packages. The placement results in the south are overwhelming as well. Students from Chennai’s top engineering colleges have also managed to grab best job opportunities from various recruiters.
According to the data shared by the placement cell of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M), almost 62 percent of the total students have got placed during IIT Madras Placement 2020. Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Qualcomm and other top recruiters participated in the recruitment drive of IIT-M. Many students bagged top offers when Cohesity hired a lot at Rs 62.28 lakh salary per annum.
The College of Engineering (CEG) in Guindy with a placement rate of 76 to 80 percent every year, had an amazing placement drive as well. Talking about the college’s placement rate and recruiter’s participation, Thyagarajan, the Director of Placements and University-Industry Collaborations shared top companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Qualcomm, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Cognizant, Wipro and others participate in College of Engineering placement drive. This year, DE Shaw gave the best job offer by giving students a starting salary of Rs 39.6 lakh per annum. The college’s director of the placement cell stated that the cell conducts skill development classes for the student to enhance the employability of students.
According to Dr. John Bruce, the Dean of Placements and Corporate Affairs at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, top recruiters participated in the institute’s placement drive and recruited 88.6 percent of the students. He further added that the institute generally has a 90 to 96 percent placement rate every year and it is aiming to reach the same this year as well.
Companies like Oracle, Sapient, Amazon, and Nuclei offered the highest pay packages to the students. However, a large number of students received offers from Cognizant, Wipro, Mind Tree, Tech Mahindra, and NTT Data. More than 1000 students received job offers that exceeded Rs 10 lakh per annum salary package and Diverta gave the highest job offer at Rs 41 lakh per annum. With this, the average CTC of the college got increased to Rs 4.40 lakh per annum this year.
In the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Chennai, around 85 percent of BTech students have got placed so far. According to the data shared by the college, 90 percent of the students get placed every year during the campus placement drive. A total of 650 companies participated in the recruitment drive of the institute this year. Out of the total, around 150 companies offered a salary package of more than Rs 10 lakh per annum. The best salary package was offered by Microsoft this year i.e. Rs. 41.6 lakh per annum as the starting salary.
