Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has developed a platform called CORONTINE to track suspected/potential (asymptomatic) coronavirus carriers.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has developed a platform called CORONTINE to track suspected/potential (asymptomatic) coronavirus carriers. Along with some professional and experienced alumni, a devoted team at IIT Bombay has built the platform. According to a statement from the IIT Bombay, CORONTINE is flexible, scalable, comprehensive and ready-to-use. The statement further stated that the CORONTINE platform and app can be useful to establishments to register the asymptomatic carriers and track them to check if they confine to their quarantined zones. CORONTINE makes is easy to geo-fence and automatically creates alerts (SMS, email, etc) if users move out of the quarantined zone. The CORONTINE platform has guidelines for forming zones into regions and various other such features. 

According to IIT Bombay, the app is enormously customizable to the requirements of the agencies. From the official website of the CORONTINE app – corontine.in, details about the CORONTINE app and the admin platform, together with the user manual can be accessed. To avail the complete features of the CORONTINE platform, only an assigned person can login as admin. The IIT Bombay team which designed the app consists of Prof Ganesh Ramakrishnan, Professor at Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Prof Manjesh Hanawal, Department of IEOR.

So far, the deadly virus has taken more than 27,000 lives across the globe. In India, the number of infected individuals from coronavirus has crossed the tally of thousand. As of now, more than 30 people have died from COVID-19.
