COVID-19 Lockdown: Savitribai Phule Pune University announces interim vacation until April 14

Savirtibai Phule Pune University has announced interim vacation for all the faculty members, staff, and students of the entire university including affiliated colleges.

Savitribai Phule Pune University has announced interim vacation for all its affiliated colleges until April 14. 

"Amid the prevailing coronavirus situation in the country, all the faculty members, staff, and students of the entire university including affiliated colleges have been informed that the university had declared interim vacation from April 1 to 14, 2020," said Prafull Pawar, Registrar, Savitribai Phule Pune University in a statement.

However, the university has directed all non-teaching staff to continue their work from home during this interim vacation.

The faculty members can be asked to come to University to carry out the essential work if required, the Registrar said. 

As per reports, the university is also planning to cancel the examinations of first-year students. However, no official notification has been made yet by the University.

On March 27, the university had released a circular stating the examination for all undergraduate and postgraduate has been postponed until April 14. 

As of now, exams have been postponed for PG Diploma courses by the Department of Communication and Journalism.

The official notification released by the university stated that all the final annual examinations scheduled to start from April 8 and Post Graduate (PG) Diploma in Mass Media scheduled to begin from April 7 have been postponed in wake of the present situation. The revised schedule will be announced in due course of time and students are requested to keep checking the official website.

On March 24, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced a 21-day nationwide lockdown as a preventive measure to reduce the spread of coronavirus which has claimed 72 lives in the country so far.
