From CCTV to Data Logs; Check NTA's Innovative Measures Against Cheating in JEE Main 2024
JEE Main 2024 Session 2 started with biometric checks from a distance for 12.57 lakh aspirants at 544 places. NTA is using strict rules to stop cheating in exams, with the help of AI for biometric checks and checking exams after they are done. Check NTA's measures against cheating in JEE Main
JEE Main 2024 Session 2: The National Testing Agency warned candidates that they could face consequences for cheating, even after JEE Main 2024 session 2 exams, through analysis of data. NTA has released a notice and announced plans to review video footage and logs of how questions were answered in JEE Main 2024 to catch any dishonest teamwork.
Apart from this, NTA will also use AI for remote biometric matching of candidates. Earlier in JEE Main session 1 held in January, NTA had identified four cases of unfair means in post-exam data analysis. Therefore, those appearing for JEE Mains are again advised not to move during the exam or indulge in talking/peeping or assisting others.
NTA Cheating Measures for JEE Main 2024 Session 2
NTA has put in place strict controls to prevent cheating. These include several layers of checks, using biometric data to confirm identities, electronic verification of candidates' details, and thorough searches of candidates, those overseeing the exam, and any other involved parties. Additionally, if they need to use the restroom during the JEE Main exam, they will have their biometric data checked again before returning.
Surprise Visits by Flying Squads
Security measures such as surprise visits by flying squads, deployment of full-time observers, utilisation of AI tools to identify discrepancies in candidates' application details, and matching of their biometrics and particulars remotely through AI and also by physical thorough invigilation supervision, have been made to be put in place.
JEE Main 2024 Post Examination Analysis
NTA will also conduct post-exam analysis of the responses of the treated group concerning cheating behaviour associated with the exam by observational data, interesting statistical approaches etc. This analysis involves looking at the responses from those monitored for cheating using data observation, innovative statistical methods, and more.
Technologies that do not interfere with the exam process are employed to detect any collaboration among candidates. Additionally, the logs of attempts at questions are scrutinised to find any unusually similar answers. The exam activity records, candidates' behaviour, and CCTV footage of these individuals are thoroughly inspected as part of this process.
What Happens if You are caught Cheating in JEE Mains?
Engaging in cheating can result in several serious consequences. First, the candidate caught cheating could lose their chance to take part in JEE Main they were attempting. This means their application could be cancelled immediately. Moreover, they would not be allowed to apply for the JEE Main not just this year, but also in the years to come, essentially barring them for an indefinite period.
In addition to these academic penalties, legal actions or very strict penalties could be taken against the person who decided to cheat. This could involve starting a legal process that might lead to further sanctions or penalties, depending on what the law allows.
