HBTU invites applications for MTech, PhD in food technology, apply by June 30

Admission to MTech programme will be done through a valid GATE score. In case of non-availability of sufficient GATE qualified candidates, the vacant seats will be filled by non-GATE candidates based on performance in a written examination.

Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur, has invited applications for MTech and PhD in food technology for the 2023-24 academic session. Interested candidates can apply on the official website, www.hbtu.ac.in, till June 30, 2023.

Admission to MTech programme will be done through a valid GATE score. In case of non-availability of sufficient GATE qualified candidates, the vacant seats will be filled by non-GATE candidates based on performance in a written examination.

The written examination and document verification for MTech admissions will be conducted at HBTU Kanpur. A separate intimation will be displayed on HBTU website for the purpose. Academic fee for admission to MTech programme is INR 80,000.

Eligibility criteria for admission to MTech (Food Technology) at HBTU

Food Technology Stream A 11 (i) B. Tech. / B. E. Degree in Food Technology with
minimum 55% marks
Stream B (i) B. Tech. / B. E. Degree in Plastic Technology,
Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Paint
Technology, Oil Technology, Diary Technology,
Leather Technology, Biotechnology or any other
relevant/allied discipline with minimum 55% marks.
Stream C (ii) M. Sc. Degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry,
Applied Chemistry, Food Science, Food Technology,
Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, LifeSciences or any other relevant/allied discipline with
minimum 55% marks.

Eligibility criteria for admission to PhD (Food Technology) at HBTU

Department Seat Intake Eligibility
Food Technology 5 (i) M. Tech. / M. E. degree in relevant discipline with a
minimum of 55% marks or equivalent CGPA / CPI.
or
(ii) B. Tech. degree with minimum 75% marks with 2
years professional experience.
or
(iii) M. Sc. degree with minimum 55% marks in
Chemistry / Industrial Chemistry / Applied Chemistry /
Bio Technology or equivalent 

It is to be noted that A relaxation of 5 per cent of marks in minimum qualifying marks is permissible (without grace marks) to candidates belonging to SC / ST / OBC-NCL / PwD categories for admissions to PhD programmes. A university fellowship of INR 15,000 per month for a maximum period of three years will be granted to all full-time Regular PhD students.
