The Edunet Foundation, in partnership with IBM, organised the IBM SkillsBuild Hackathon in Pune, showcasing the profound impact of technology-driven education and project-based learning. The event kicked off with an inspiring inaugural address by Kush Tripathi, Associate Director of Program Management at Edunet Foundation, who emphasised the importance of skill-building through innovative platforms.
This was followed by ceremonial lamp lighting, marking the official start of the hackathon, with distinguished dignitaries from IBM, Edunet Foundation, and senior officials from the Maharashtra State government in attendance. The collaborative effort underscored the commitment to fostering a culture of creativity and technological advancement among students, preparing them for the challenges of the future.
IBM SkillsBuild Hackathon 2025
A total of 72 teams from 41 institutes across Maharashtra came together to participate in this state-level hackathon. Over seven weeks, students took part in virtual mentoring sessions, refining their skills and developing innovative projects using IBM Cloud tools, such as Watson Studio, Watson Assistant, and AutoAI. The top three teams emerged with groundbreaking projects that not only demonstrated creativity but also provided practical solutions to real-world challenges. Their impressive presentations highlighted their technical proficiency, innovative thinking, and strong problem-solving abilities, setting them apart as leaders in the tech space.
The faculty mentors played an important role in guiding all teams through their Hackathon journey. Their invaluable contributions were recognized during a special segment, “Hackathon Journey: Faculty Experience Share,” which highlighted the importance of collaborative guidance in driving innovation.
Through the IBM SkillsBuild program, Edunet has empowered thousands of students across India with advanced skills in AI, Cloud Computing, Data Science, and Cybersecurity, preparing them to thrive in the dynamic digital economy. The program has grown to include over 70 institutes across 12 states, offering students valuable hands-on experience through project-based learning, boot camps, and industry-aligned workshops.
