The major areas for three-year online MTech courses will be Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Mechatronics Engineering (MEA), etc.

The Indian Institute of Information Technology at Bhagalpur (IIIT Bhagalpur) is all set to introduce online Master’s (postgraduate) courses for the working professionals and entrepreneurs who started their own ventures/industries. Interested candidates must note that the first academic session of online Master’s courses will commence in July 2022. In order to enroll bright students/ working professionals in the three-year online MTech courses, the institute will conduct a written test followed by a personal interview to maintain the educational standards. The major areas for three-year online MTech courses will be Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Mechatronics Engineering (MEA), etc.

The programmes will run on a credit-based fee structure and will vary between INR 4-4.50 lakh for the three-year duration, according to TOI. The institute is also planning to introduce a unique four-year bachelors course in mathematics and computing sciences (MCS) soon. There will be no limit on the number of enrolments in the online MTech courses.

The institute is currently running BTech programmes in three branches, namely Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), and Mechatronics Engineering (ME), besides starting two-year MTech (regular) and PhD programme from August 2021. Recently, IIIT-Bhagalpur recently received consent from its senate to start an online MTech programme for working professionals. The new Master’s courses can be pursued from the comfort of homes or offices in the evening hours.

The three-year MTech courses is developed for working professionals who cannot take leave from their respective jobs and engagements to pursue two-year, full-time regular (four-semester) Master’s courses in engineering colleges. Two years of the online MTech courses will be for theory (four semesters) and the third year (fifth and sixth semesters) will be for thesis and project works to complete the Master’s degree. However, no financial assistance will be offered to the online MTech students.
