The IIIT Delhi hosted a day-long conference where medical professionals, engineers, scientists, and other stakeholders explored AI-driven solutions to enhance patient care.
IIIT Delhi: At a day-long conference held today on September 5, 2024, at the iHub Anubhuti IIITD Foundation of Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT Delhi), medical professionals, engineers, scientists, and other stakeholders explored AI-driven solutions aimed at enhancing patient care, optimising clinical processes, and ultimately improving healthcare outcomes. The event was attended by Dr. Ranjan Bose, Director of IIIT Delhi; Dr. Ekta Kapoor, Head of the FFT Division at DST; Dr. Pushpendra Singh and Dr. Vikram Goyal, Project Directors at the iHub Anubhuti-IIITD Foundation; and other domain experts.
This conference was jointly organised by DST and five Technology Innovation Hubs (TiHs) established under NM-ICPS and was co-supported by AIIMS, Delhi. The main aim of the conference was to identify key healthcare challenges, foster interdisciplinary collaboration and explore practical implementation.
In the inaugural address, at the conference on "AI in Healthcare” Bridging the Gap Between Medicine and Engineering, Professor Abhay Karandikar, Secretary Department of Science and Technology (DST) highlighted the potential of the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) to transform healthcare by integrating expertise from AI, clinical sciences, and basic sciences to harness India’s extensive data sets for improving the access to healthcare.
Distinguished professionals like Dr. Sandeep Aggarwal, Chairman, Institute of Minimal Access, Bariatric, GI and Robotic Surgery, Manipal Hospitals, Dwarka, New Delhi; Dr. Sanjeev Sinha, AIIMS Delhi; Dr. Saket Choudhary, Koita Centre for Digital Health, IIT Bombay; Dr. Moushumi Suryavanshi, Head, Molecular Biology, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Faridabad, Haryana; Dr. Anurag Agarwal, Head, Koita Center for Digital Health, Ashoka University, Sonepat, Haryana and Dr. Bharat Aggarwal, Principal Director-Radiology, Max Hospitals, Delhi, and provided invaluable insights about the intersection of AI and healthcare.
The event featured interactive panel discussions such as “Perspective of AI in Healthcare from the Medical Community” and “Perspective of AI in Healthcare from the Engineering Community,” along with a visit to the Medical Cobotics Center (MCC), providing attendees with a thorough understanding of AI’s potential in healthcare.

Yes, IIIT Delhi offers MTech across different specialisations. The two-year course is divided into four semesters. All the courses are credit-based programmes. Admission to the courses is entrance-based followed by an interview round. The accepted entrance examinations are GATE, PGCAT-IIITD, and GAT-B. IIITD offer MTech courses in the streams of Computer Science & Engineering, Computational Biology, and Electronics and Communications Engineering.

The technology institute is ranked 85 under the “Engineering” category in the NIRF 2024 rankings. IIIT Delhi also provides placement support to the students.
