IIT-BHU ‘I-DAPT Health-tech hackathon’; Last date to apply today

‘I-DAPT Health-tech hackathon’ application window is open for students from across the country from diverse disciplines.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Banaras Hindu University (BHU) id all set to organise a national level ‘I-DAPT Health-tech hackathon’ for school and college students of diverse disciplines. The idea behind the hackathon is to boost innovative ideas in health-tech and allied sectors from June 13 to 15.

Last date to apply is May 11

‘I-DAPT Health-tech hackathon’ application window is open for students from across the country from diverse disciplines. Applicants are invited in two categoris. In category 1, school students (up to class 12th) and in category 2, UG and PG students (from science, engineering and medical streams) are invited. Applicants may submit online applications for this event. Registration for the event ends on May 11.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Banaras Hindu University (BHU) director Professor Pramod Kumar Jain said, “The aim of this hackathon is to engage young innovative minds to think, design and develop innovative solutions for modern-age problems in health-tech or med-tech sectors. Total cash prizes of up to INR 1.7 lakh along with free internship opportunities at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Banaras Hindu University (BHU) will be awarded to the winners and runner-ups.”

“In the last few years, the role of technology in healthcare has grown enormously. Today, we have access to easy-to-use and accessible medical devices, driven by technologies like artificial intelligence, augmented reality, blockchain, etc. These technologies enable patients and their caretakers to make decisions regarding management and treatment of diseases. The I-DAPT Health-tech hackathon will foster a mindset among our youths toward these technology developments,” said Professor Jain.

Hackathon will make young minds seek careers in healthcare and allied sectors.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that access, availability and awareness of tech-powered medicine will make India Atma Nirbhar in healthcare,” he said, adding, “During the testing times of Covid pandemic, we witnessed how digital technologies like tele-medicines and medical analytics played a key role in timely prediction and management of diseases.”

“Artificial Intelligence in diagnosis and drug development, AI in mental health, telemedicine and remote care, augmented reality in healthcare, IoT and wearables, bioprinting are some trending research areas for the future,” he added.

hackathons like this will attract young minds to seek careers in healthcare and allied sectors. With rising national and worldwide demand in health infrastructure, the healthcare sector will be one of the most employable sectors, said Dean (R&D) Professor Vikash Kumar Dubey.
