IIT Bombay Refutes Placement Claims; IIT Delhi Placement Drive Commences with High Hopes

In a critical clarification, IIT Bombay has officially stated that it has not issued any press statement regarding the ongoing placement season. Addressing reports circulating in the media, the institute declared them invalid and denied any responsibility for their content. IIT Bombay emphasized its commitment to providing diverse opportunities for students and assured stakeholders that an official statement would follow once authentic information is available.
The institute also clarified that it discloses only median salaries, not Cost-to-Company (CTC) figures, reiterating its focus on transparency and meaningful representation of placement outcomes. As per the statement shared by the institute, "IIT Bombay is dedicated to excellence in research and academics and urges all stakeholders to continue supporting its journey toward greater heights."
Meanwhile, at IIT Delhi, the placement season has commenced with optimism, building on an impressive track record from the previous year. The institution has seen a surge in on-campus participation and a notable rise in opportunities for PhD scholars.
Highlights of IIT Delhi’s Placement Season
Job Offers: Over 1,222 unique job offers were extended to students in the 2023-24 season.
Internship Opportunities: Secured 741 unique internships.
PhD Focus: A six-fold rise in PhD placements on campus and a seven-fold increase in offers through a specialized PhD placement drive.
Career Outcomes: As per its August 2024 exit survey, only 5% of graduates were exploring career opportunities, primarily PhD scholars aiming for post-doctoral roles abroad.
Professors R. Ayothiraman and Naresh Datla from IIT Delhi’s Office of Career Services expressed confidence in delivering successful placement outcomes this year. They attributed the progress to comprehensive preparations and an expanding pool of recruiters offering diverse roles.
IIT Delhi also highlighted its strategic growth, with a 10% increase in the number of graduates and a 30% rise in PhD scholars, reinforcing its focus on advancing academic and research contributions.
