IIT Delhi Establishes "Bhandari-Sankhla Chair" in area of Clean Energy
The Chair will promote excellence and leadership in teaching, research, and development in the area of clean energy.
IIT Delhi alumnus Sandeep Bhandari (B. Tech., Mechanical Engineering, 1994 Batch) has endowed the "Bhandari-Sankhla Chair" in the area of clean energy.
The Bhandari-Sankhla Chair will promote excellence and leadership in teaching, research, and development in the area of clean energy. It will also encourage research on green hydrogen production, hydrogen infrastructure development, and carbon dioxide management technology.
Bhandari, who feels immensely proud to partner with IIT Delhi, said, "It is a privilege to partner with the institute, the place that has had such a profound impact on shaping me. It's also an honour to dedicate this chair to my Nani (maternal grandmother), who has been a true inspiration to me from early childhood, and my parents, who have always sparked a joy of learning sciences."
While dedicating this chair to his maternal grandmother and his parents, he expressed hopes that the chair can contribute towards a cleaner and more sustainable climate.
Sandeep Bhandari mentors and advises startups in the financial technology industry. Over the last three decades, he has worked across several leading companies in the sector, including Capital One, Lending Club, and Affirm. His main focus has been leveraging technology to develop innovative financial products and manage risk to make these products accessible to more consumers. In addition to his B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Delhi, Mr. Bhandari also completed an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad.
