IIT Delhi, EXL ink MoU to Work Towards Empowering Women Entrepreneurs
IIT Delhi and EXL entered into a MoU to Work Towards Empowering Women Entrepreneurs Through Digital and Financial Literacy.
IIT Delhi has entered into a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) MoU with EXL, a leading data analytics and digital operations and solutions company, to work together on a project focused on Empowering Women Entrepreneurs through Digital and Financial Literacy.
Prof. Seema Sharma and Prof. Gourav Dwivedi from the Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi, will undertake this project with the aim of providing support to micro-level women entrepreneurs by imparting digital and financial education to enhance their business management skills.
While signing the MoU, Prof. Preeti Ranjan Panda, Dean, of Corporate Relations, IIT Delhi, said, "With this initiative, the needs of micro-level women entrepreneurs to catch up with technological diffusion will be addressed, and this adoption can further lead to an impetus for the mission of women's empowerment."
Prof. Seema Sharma stated that India’s growth story cannot be inclusive and sustainable unless micro-level women entrepreneurs are empowered to scale up their businesses. This project aims to train them with the required technologies to enhance their business management skills.
Prof. Gourav Dwivedi added that the project will also help towards various sustainable development goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations. Empowering women to become entrepreneurs and providing them with equal opportunities, will contribute to reducing gender disparities, promoting economic growth, and fostering an inclusive society, which aligns with SDG 1 of no poverty, SDG 4 of quality education, SDG 5 of gender equality, SDG 8 of decent work and economic growth, and SDG 10 of reduced inequalities.
On this occasion, Mr Satyajit Gupta, VP2, Assistant General Counsel, and Head of India, Legal & CSR, EXL, said, “We are pleased to partner with IIT Delhi on a one-of-a-kind program that aims to uplift the status of sub-urban/ rural women microentrepreneurs by creating economic opportunities for them. The training so gained by such women entrepreneurs will undoubtedly enhance their business management capabilities, leading to the promotion of socio-economic activities and the economic growth of the nation at large”.
