IIT Hyderabad, OPPO team up for research on emerging technologies

The association is aimed at bridging the gap between academic excellence and business needs and to help create and corporate-ready workforce. This collaboration with OPPO will help IIT Hyderabad in the development of indigenous solutions to cater to the dynamic needs of the Indian consumers.

IIT Hyderabad is going to work together with OPPO, a smartphone brand, to enthuse research in the field of science and technology. On January 13, 2020, an MoU was signed between Dr. Sumohana S. Channappayya, Dean (Research and Development), IIT Hyderabad and Mr. Tasleem Arif, Vice President and Head (R&D), OPPO India. The MoU will facilitate the give-and-take of ideas and pave the way for cutting edge research in the development of advanced and emerging technologies.

The research partnership will emphasise on development for various projects over a period of two years for the advancement of new technologies in domains related to networks (5G), system performance and Artificial Intelligence, camera & image processing, battery, among other areas. The association is aimed at bridging the gap between academic excellence and business needs and to help create and corporate-ready workforce.

The association of Oppo with IIT Hyderabad is in line with their vision to augment R&D and innovation capabilities at OPPO India as they continue their efforts to build localised solutions for the Indian market. This alliance aims to pave the way to carry out quality research and encourage the rapid incorporation of cutting-edge technology, predominantly in the areas of 5G and AI. The MOU is likely to help both OPPO and IIT Hyderabad carry out research in fundamental areas of software, hardware and Internet services to make sure a cohesive user experience for the Indian audience.

This collaboration with OPPO will help IIT Hyderabad in the development of indigenous solutions to cater to the dynamic needs of the Indian consumers.
