IIT Jodhpur sets up Centre of Excellence for renewable energy
The centre is a part of the IIT Jodhpur technology park. It will provide industry exposure to students, professionals and other stakeholders.
Rajasthan Solar Association has launched the Centre of Excellence for Renewable Energy at the technology park of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between both parties aims at supporting research and development work for renewable energy.
As part of the MoU, various specific courses and programmes will also be designed to upskill the available workforce resources. The collaboration will make IIT Jodhpur Technology Park a vital manufacturing hub that will provide consistent industry exposure to the students, professionals and other stakeholders.
Key areas of research
Below are the focus areas of research in this collaboration.
- Advanced electronics
- Remote monitoring
- Trackers and inverters
- Automatic cleaning systems
- Solar, thermal and wind-solar
- Interventions in solar panel technologies
- Research on polysilicon and entire value-chain
- Artificial intelligence and deep learning
While inaugurating the centre, Sunil Kumar, president, Rajasthan Solar Association, said, “The centre will play a vital role in providing skilling/upskilling opportunities and Rajasthan Solar Association has already signed an MoU with German Government Agency which is a trade economy worldwide. With the help of their expertise, we will do skilling of master students to make them productive immediately and other industrial people of India so we can connect academia and industry leaders effectively.”
Santanu Chaudhury, Director, IIT Jodhpur, Sampat Raj Vadera, Deputy Director, Sunil Bansal, President, Rajasthan Solar Association, Anil Kumar Saboo, Chairman and MD, Elektrolites and President, Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers’ Association were present at the launch event of the centre.
