Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions (RBEI) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with IIT Madras (IIT-M) to provide internships to exchange students coming into IIT-M.

Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions (RBEI) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with IIT Madras (IIT-M) to provide internships to exchange students coming into IIT-M. German university RWTH Aachen and IIT Madras provide a dual degree programme, having student-exchanges between the two organisations. The exchange students are likely to go through an industry internship in both Germany and India. RBEI has decided to accept the exchange students for internships in data analytics and artificial intelligence. The focus areas comprise AI and data analytics along with automobile engineering, bio-medical engineering, and manufacturing, among others.

The MoU was signed parallel to an event celebrating the decades-long corporation between the two universities.  During the event, a science delegation from the German university, headed by its rector Ulrich Rüdiger visited IIT-M. Several events, workshops and strategic discussions are to take place from Monday to Wednesday at IIT-M to augment this partnership.

According to Bhaskar Ramamurthi, director of IIT-M, many important projects related to sustainability, land use, and waste management were being done at the Indo-German Centre for Sustainability (IGCS), which has been an important hub of association between IIT Madras and RWTH Aachen University and has grown over the years. He further stated that the new focus on coastal management was on account of climate change. Ramamurthi was awarded the RWTH Honorary Fellow Award by Rüdiger for his scientific achievements and his contribution to the mutual collaboration and IGCS.

The IGCS works as a stage for partnership between German and Indian scientists on teaching and training, fundamental and applied research, and propagation of information in sustainable development. Its special focus is the safety of the environment – conserving water resources, energy, land use and rural development and waste management.
