Candidates who wish to take up a career in Marine engineering, can enroll in the BTech Marine Engineering course or BTech - Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering. BTech Marine Engineering and BTech - Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering admission is done without JEE Main scores. However, to get into the best marine engineering course offered by the best colleges, candidates must appear for the national-level entrance test known as IMU CET (Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test).

IMU CET 2024 registrations will open in April and the national-level test will be held in June 2024. The complete schedule for the CET will be announced on the official website of IMU, imu.edu.in.

The Indian Maritime University (IMU) conducts the national-level common entrance test, IMU CET for admission to BTech Marine Engineering and BTech - Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering courses. Additionally, IMU CET scores are also accepted for admission to BSc, UG Diploma, MTech, MBA, and PhD courses. The exam is held annually.

Admission via IMU CET 2024 will be done not only to the colleges and courses under IMU but also to the Maritime Training Institutes approved by the Directorate General of Shipping, Government Of India.

About IMU CET 2024

IMU CET 2024 will be held at the national level. The exam will be held in CBT mode in various cities across the nation. For BTech admission via IMU CET, candidates have to answer questions from English, General Aptitude, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (10+2 level).

There will be 50 questions in each Maths and Physics section. The chemistry section will carry 20 questions and there will be 40 questions in each section of English and Aptitude. Thus, the total number of questions that will be asked in the exam will be 200. The exam will be held for 3 hours and there will be multiple-choice type questions. Each wrong answer will have a 0.25 negative marking.

Only the IMUCET qualified candidates will be able to participate in the admission process. JEE Main or any other engineering entrance exam score will not be needed for admission. All admissions will be purely based on the IMUCET 2024 rank list only.

For admission to DGS-approved BTech programmes in affiliated/non-affiliated institutes, IMU CET rank is compulsory, hence the candidates desirous of taking admission to these programmes need to register in the IMU CET registration portal to take IMU CET and secure ranks. After securing IMU CET ranks candidates need to approach affiliated/non-affiliated institutes for taking admissions as per their admission mechanism.

Candidates desirous of taking admission to IMU campuses only need to register in the IMU CET counselling portal which will be opened after the release of the IMU CET rank list.
