International Olympiad in Informatics: Agastya Goel, son of 1990 IIT-JEE topper Ashish Goel, secured his second gold medal at the recently held International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI). Agastya earned an impressive 438.97 out of 600 in the highly competitive programming olympiad. The top spot went to China's Kangyang Zhou, who achieved a perfect score of 600.

In the world’s toughest programming competition for high school students, Agastya Goel secured the fourth position overall. The son of Stanford professor and former IIT-JEE topper Ashish Goel, Agastya has earned global recognition in the tech community.

His accomplishment received widespread praise on social media, with one X account drawing comparisons to his father, Ashish Goel, who topped the IIT-JEE in 1990 and later built a distinguished career at companies like Twitter and Stripe. One X user drew a comparison between him and his father and tweeted, "Agastya Goel just got his 2nd IOI Gold medal for the US, the hardest programming contest for high schoolers in the world. About International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI)

This year, 34 students earned gold medals at the International Olympiad in Informatics, including India’s Kshitij Sodani, who ranked 21st. The 36th edition of the IOI took place in Egypt from September 1 to September 8, bringing together the brightest young minds from around the world to showcase their computational thinking and problem-solving skills at this competition. The International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) is an annual competitive programming contest and one of the five prestigious International Science Olympiads. It was established in May 1989 by UNESCO.
