Jammu and Kashmir students would get more than one lakh scholarships this year, as per Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi. He further stated that in the next five years, over 10 lakh scholarships would be granted to the students of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). From the first standard to graduation, the scholarship would be given to all the students who apply.

Naqvi further stated that the government is working on three E’s to bring back development in J&K – Employment, Education, and Empowerment. The state is moving ahead on the track of progress now. Before this, Naqvi inaugurated three developmental projects and held meetings with a dozen delegations while touring Srinagar. Later on, he met nine more delegations at a government house.

Jammu and Kashmir has been going through a phase of transformation. After the abrogation of decades-old Article 370, the state has started becoming stable. For months now, there has been no sign of violence or any such activities seen on the ground. The government is ensuring to keep things under control. This is why it has been continually working for the betterment of the education sector in the regions of Jammu and Kashmir. Of late, the communication channels have been restored, though in parts.

Naqvi also talked about the Haj quota which would be increased for J&K. The earlier system of the draw of lots for Haj pilgrims won’t apply anymore to J&K. Now, all the applicants will be able to make it the annual pilgrimage.
