JEE Main 2020 April/September exam to be held from September 1-6, confirms NTA. Read the complete details below.
National Testing Agency (NTA) has confirmed through a press release that JEE Main 2020 April/September exam will not be postponed any further. The authority has made this announcement as per the order of the Supreme Court. Earlier, various petitions were made for the postponement of the JEE Main and NEET exams. JEE Main 2020 is now scheduled to be held from September 1-6 and NEET is scheduled to be conducted on September 13.
The authority says, "We find that there is absolutely no justification in the prayer made for postponement of the examination in question relating to NEET UG-2020 as well as JEE (Main) April, 2020. In our opinion, though there is the pandemic situation, but ultimately life has to go and the career of the students cannot be put on peril for long and full academic year cannot be wasted.”
“…the examination is going to be held with due precaution and it is not going to be postponed. Thus, we find no merit in the writ petition.”
NTA also confirmed that due to COVID-19 pandemic candidates were given five times to change their JEE Main 2020 exam centre as per their convenience and preferences. During the time time period, a total of 661911 candidates availed this opportunity and they were considered for centres based upon their revised city option.
On August 17, the authority has also released JEE Main 2020 admit card in online mode. By far, 649223 candidates have downloaded their admit cards so far, against a total number 858273. NTA has also allotted the first choice of preferences to 99.07% candidates who are appearing for JEE Main 2020 April/September exam. Another 142 candidates have requested NTA to change their centre city option and the authority is also taking into consideration all the requests made by them.
The authority has also released JEE Main 2020 exam day instructions and COVID-19 safety guidelines to be strictly followed by the exam authorities and candidates. The advisory for candidates has been released separately on the official website of the exam and along with the JEE Main admit card 2020.
For the JEE Main 2020 April/September exam, a total 8,58,273 candidates have applied for JEE Main 2020 April/September exam and total registered for BE/BTech exam only are 7,46,115 candidates.
