The petition was filed by Keyush Patel, after the NTA portal wiped out his son Kush's efforts in the exam. He was shown to have ranked at the bottom, in the 7th percentile, in the result declared later.

The Gujarat high court has directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Centre to respond to a plea regarding a Vadodara student, who was first shown to have scored 300 out of 300 in the JEE Main response sheet online, but few hours later it showed he had not attempted any question, Times of India reported.

The petition was filed by Keyush Patel, after the NTA portal wiped out his son Kush's efforts in the exam. He was shown to have ranked at the bottom, in the 7th percentile, in the result declared later.

According to the petition, Kush is a bright student who scored 90 per cent in Class 10 and was among the Top-100 participants of Phase-1 of TOSC '22 and had qualified for Phase-2. An invitation letter from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, was produced to substantiate the claim. His Class 12 results are awaited.

The petitioner submitted that his son took the JEE Main in April and was expecting the response sheet from NTA in the mail. When he did not get it, he checked the website on the morning of April 20 to find that he had successfully attempted all questions and got full marks. However, to their surprise, when they downloaded the response sheet in the afternoon that same day, it showed he had not attempted any question.

The student took up the issue with the NTA and pointed out that his response sheet has been modified. He was given an assurance by the NTA that modifications would be made, but when his result was declared on April 29, it showed him ranking in the 7th percentile. The petitioner has urged the NTA to modify his son’s results and permit him to write JEE Advanced 2023.
