JEE Main 2024 syllabus reduced? Know which topics and chapters have been removed
JEE reduced syllabus 2024 will help the aspirants align with the topics they study in classes 11 and 12. Currently, students have to study additional topics in the JEE Mains syllabus which are no longer included in class 11 and 12 CBSE and state board curriculum.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the new JEE Mains 2024 syllabus. In the new syllabus, several units have been removed. The deleted syllabus of JEE Mains 2024 are
- Mathematics: Mathematical Induction and Mathematical Reasoning units have been removed from the syllabus of Mathematics.
- Physics: In Physics, Communication Device units has been removed from the syllabus
- Chemistry: Surface Chemistry, States of Matter, General Principles and Processes of Isolation of Metals, s-block elements, Hydrogen, Environmental Chemistry, Alcohol Phenol and Ether, Polymers chapters have been removed.
The NTA Director informed that the JEE Mains new syllabus 2024 has all topics removed that are no longer part of classes 11 and 12. The JEE expert committee decided for JEE Main syllabus reduction as CBSE and several state boards rationalized their class 9 to 12 syllabus during the COVID pandemic.
The current batch of class 12 students in CBSE and several state boards studied reduced syllabus in class 9, 10 and 11 in the year 2020, 2021 and 2022 due to COVID. Also, no class 10 board exams were conducted in the year 2021. These students, currently in class 12 are studying the reduced syllabus for the 2024 board exam.
The syllabus of JEE Main was however kept untouched even after the reduction in class 11 and 12 syllabus for board exams.

What topics have been removed from JEE Main Syllabus 2024
The NTA has released the official JEE Main reduced syllabus 2024. All those topics that are no longer part of class 11 and 12 curriculums have been removed from the syllabus of JEE Mains 2024. The JEE Syllabus PDF is available at jeemain.nta.nic.in 2024 once released by the NTA. The syllabus currently contains 64 chapters, with 16 in math, 20 in physics, and 28 in chemistry.
The reduction in the syllabus has been done by
- Eliminating certain subjects from both Class 11 and Class 12 in Physics NCERT
- Dropping certain chapters and themes in Chemistry NCERT
- Removing subjects from Physical and Inorganic Chemistry
Will there be any change in JEE Main 2024 Exam Pattern?
No changes in the exam pattern of JEE Main have been announced. However, the NTA Director did not point out anything regarding the change in the pattern while informing the JEE Mains syllabus reduction. The changes, if any, will be announced along with the syllabus in the official notification and information brochure.
As per the current exam pattern, there are three different papers in JEE Main, Paper 1 for BTech, Paper 2A for BArch and paper 2B for BPlan. All three papers are conducted online as a computer based test, except the drawing part of Paper 2A. The paper consists multiple choice questions (MCQs) and questions of numerical value answer (NAV). When will JEE Main 2024 registration start?
The JEE Main 2024 registration date is November 1 to 30. As the exam will be conducted in two sessions, separate application forms will be released for both January and April exams.
JEE Main 2024 application form session 1 is available at jeemain.nta.nic.in. JEE Main 2024 application form for session 2 will release on February 2. The application forms will be available online at the official website.
What is JEE Main Exam Date 2024?
NTA has announced the dates for JEE Main 2024 exam. There will be two sessions of JEE Main 2024, January and April. The first session exam will be conducted from January 24 to February 1 while the second session will be held between April 1 to 15.
