JEE Main 2025: Age limit, marks in class 12 to apply for JEE
The JEE Main Eligibility Criteria enlist the conditions that every candidate needs to fulfill to be eligible to apply for the exam. The eligibility criteria include a minimum and maximum age limit, minimum marks in class 12, year of passing class 12, and a combination of subjects in the class 12 exam. Every candidate needs to ensure they meet all the eligibility criteria before filling out the JEE Main application form.
NTA will soon release the JEE Main application form 2025. Candidates interested in applying for the exam must fulfill the conditions mentioned in JEE Main eligibility criteria, failing which they would not be allowed to appear in the exam.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) lays down the minimum eligibility conditions that need to be fulfilled by every JEE Main aspirant. The conditions are on age limit, year of passing the class 12 exam, minimum marks in the class 12 exam, and subjects in the class 12 exam.

⇒ JEE Main 2025 Age Criteria: For appearing in the JEE Main 2025, there is no age limit for the candidates. The candidates who have passed the class 12/equivalent examination irrespective of their age can appear in JEE Main 2025 examination. However, the candidates may be required to fulfill the age criteria of the Institute(s) to which they are desirous of taking admission.
⇒ JEE Main 2025 Minimum Marks in Class 12: There is no requirement of minimum marks in class 12 to appear in JEE Mains exam. Candidates applying for JEE Main 2025 can appear in the JEE exam without any restrictions on minimum marks in the class 12 exam. However, candidates need to fulfill the age-related conditions of the Institute to which they are desirous of taking admission.
⇒ JEE Main 2025 Year of Passing Qualifying Examination: Candidates applying for JEE Main must have passed the class 12 examination in 2023, 2024, or appearing in 2025. Candidates having passed the class 12 examination before 2023 or after 2025 are not eligible to apply for the JEE Mains 2025 exam.
Q: Is the criteria of 75% marks in class 12 applicable in JEE Main 2025?
Hello candidate, there is no such requirement of 75% marks in class 12 for appearing in JEE Mains. The eligibility criteria of minimum 75% marks in class 12 is required at the time of admission in NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. In JEE Main 2024, the total number of candidates who appeared in the exam is 11.7 lakh. This is the highest number ever since the inception of JEE Mains exam. Canddiates can see the gender-wise distribution of candidates below. Generally, the number of unique candidates appearing in JEE Main every year is around 10 Lacs in both sessions. Around 6-7 Lacs candidates appear in every session of JEE Mains. As there are several candidates appearing in both the sesisons, the total number would be around 12-13 Lacs with unique candidates around 10 lakh. The exact number of students is released by the NTA every year on the official website with category, gender and state-wise data.
