JEE Main 2025: NTA credibility at stake with out of syllabus, incorrect questions in exam
NTA released JEE Main Result 2025 Session 1 on February 11. A record 12.58 lakh candidates appeared in the session 1 exam this year with 14 students securing the perfect 100 percentile. In the final answer key released by NTA on February 10, 12 questions have been dropped.
The JEE Main 2025 Session 1 exam saw a record 12 questions dropped from the final answer key due to errors, raising serious concerns about the National Testing Agency's (NTA) credibility of conducting the fair and error-free exam. This is the highest number of errors in recent history, significantly higher than the previous years exams. The errors included out-of-syllabus questions and translation mistakes in questions to other languages, which confused students in understanding the intent of questions.
Students and educators have expressed their concerns, emphasizing that such errors are unacceptable in a prestigious exam like JEE Main, where students' futures are at stake. The inclusion of out-of-syllabus questions and translation errors has further damaged confidence in the NTA's ability to conduct a fair and transparent exam.
Shiksha spoke to many students who appeared in the exam in different shifts on January 22, 23, 24, 28 and 29 at Noida centre. Students reported a question in January 28 in Physics part from the topic that was removed years back from the NTA syllabus. Many other students had reported translational errors in questions of regional languages.

What if a question is dropped from JEE Main
The NTA's lack of transparency and accountability has eroded trust in the examination process despite claims of minimal errors and a commitment to fairness, and inconsistencies in the exam.
When a question is dropped from the exam, students who appeared in that particular shift are awarded full marks to the dropped questions, irrespective of the questions were attempted or not by the student.
