KCET 2024: Students raise concern over out of syllabus questions in Maths and Biology

KCET 2024: Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) is conducting the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) 2024 in two shifts. On day 1, the authorities conducted the Biology and Mathematics exam on April 18. Soon after the KCET 2024 day 1 exam concluded, students raised concerns and complained about some out-of-syllabus questions, as per The Hindu.

They reported that 11 questions in the Biology question paper were from deleted chapters of the NCERT Biology textbook of PU, and 9 questions were asked out of the syllabus in KCET 2024 Mathematics. KCET was held at 737 centres across the state. 80 percent of the total 3,49,673 registered candidates attended the examination, as per KEA.
KCET 2024 Biology Question Paper
As per The Hindu reports, in A-2 KCET paper, the question numbers 17, 18, and 42 were from the chapter “Strategies for enhancement in food pro production” which has been completely deleted from the pre-university syllabus. Similarly, question numbers 3, 4, 35, and 36 were from “reproduction in organisms” and “environmental issues” chapters, which also have been deleted.
Further, KCET 2024 Biology question numbers 28, 30, and 31 were from “organisms and populations” and “ecosystem” chapters respectively that have been partially deleted from the syllabus.
KCET 2024 Mathematics Question Paper
In the A-4 KCET Mathematics paper, question numbers 8, 9, 10, and 11 were from ‘planes’, which was the deleted part of the 3D Geometry chapter. Question numbers 4 and 6 were from the ‘scalar triple product’ that had been deleted from the chapter on vectors, while question numbers 14 and 15 were from ‘random variables’ that had been deleted from the chapter on probability.
Question number 13 from ‘binomial distribution’ has been deleted from the chapter on probability, while question number 47 was from the ‘mean value’ that has been deleted from the chapter on derivatives. Question number 58 was from ‘limit of an infinite sum’ that has been deleted from the chapter on limits, the students informed The Hindu.
