KEAM 2024: The Commissioner of Entrance Examinations (CEE) will conduct the Kerala Engineering, Agricultural and Medical Entrance Exam (KEAM) in computer-based test (CBT) mode and in this row, CEE has received approval from the government of Kerala. The CBT mode will be implemented for the annual examination this year onwards.
The Centre for Development of Imaging Technology (C-DIT) will develop the necessary software for conducting the KEAM, which facilitates admissions into engineering and pharmacy programs. The CEE has previously used software crafted by this state-operated agency for conducting entrance exams on a smaller scale for courses like LLM and MBA.
As per reports by The Hindu CEE had received Expressions of Interest from several agencies, including private entities experienced in administering Computer-Based Tests (CBTs). Nevertheless, the government opted to utilise and enhance C-DIT's software to manage the registration and application processes for the approximately 1.2 lakh students who typically enrol for the entrance exam.
The exam is expected to span multiple days, taking into account the availability of centres equipped with computer labs and similar infrastructure.
Transparent and Efficient Conduction of KEAM in CBT Mode
The government has also constituted an expert committee for the transparent and efficient conduct of the examination under CBT mode. Joint Commissioners for Entrance Examinations Shabu S.J., Baby Syla, CUSAT Director of Admissions James Varghese, head of the Computer Science and Engineering Department in the College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram (CET) Sumesh Divakaran and Kerala State IT Mission coordinator Aparna S. are the members of the committee.
