Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has initiated a probe into alleged financial misconduct at Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV). In response to reports of ongoing irregularities, Yadav directed the immediate registration of an FIR and the suspension of finance branch officials at the university.

Mohan Yadav, CM of Madhya Pradesh, in a tweet, said: “An incident of ongoing financial irregularities in Rajiv Gandhi Technological University has come to my notice.”

“I have given instructions to immediately register an FIR in this matter and to remove all the officers posted in the finance branch of the university and conduct an investigation by a high-level committee. The state government will take strict action against anyone found guilty in this case,” he added.

The allegations, which came to light following the Chief Minister's return from Lucknow, involve several high-ranking officials including RGPV's Vice-Chancellor Sunil Kumar, Financial Controller Rishikesh Verma, and former Registrar RS Rajput. The accused individuals are suspected of embezzling funds amounting to Rs 19.48 crore and orchestrating fraudulent fixed deposits worth Rs 100 crore.

A high-level committee has been tasked with conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.

While no arrests have been made thus far, the FIR, filed based on a letter from RGPV's registrar to the Gandhi Nagar police station in Bhopal, alleges a criminal conspiracy to siphon off funds and manipulate financial records.

The case has prompted a reevaluation of financial oversight mechanisms within universities, emphasizing the need for stringent checks and balances to prevent future malfeasance.

As the investigation progresses, its findings are expected to influence policy decisions and governance frameworks within the education sector, with a focus on upholding transparency and accountability.
