MANIT PhD scholars demand removal of supervisor for taking ‘credit’ for their work

PhD scholars Tanmay Shukla and Mirza Jawad Baig have been staging a protest outside the MANIT campus, demanding removal of their supervisor, Dr Ujjwal Kumar Kalla. They have also have submitted their complaint to the DCP Bhopal. 

Two PhD scholars of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) Bhopal have accused their guide of trying to publish their research work under his name. PhD scholars Tanmay Shukla and Mirza Jawad Baig have been staging a protest outside the MANIT campus, demanding removal of their supervisor, Dr Ujjwal Kumar Kalla. They have also have submitted their complaint to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Bhopal. 

College administartion harassing us: PhD scholars 

In a letter to the DCP Bhopal, the PhD scholars wrote, “We (Tanmay Shukla and Mirza Jawad Baig) state that we have given complaint against our PhD supervisor Dr Ujjwal Kumar Kalla of misbehaving, using foul words, swapping names in papers, trying to publish papers without giving actual investigators (Tanmay and Mirza) any authorship to college administration. College administration is continuously harassing us. They are totally biased. We don’t have anyone to hear our issues. We have also submitted all necessary proofs to the college, so we request you to kindly do the needful in this matter.” 

The All India Research Scholars Association took to Twitter to highlight their issue. They tweeted, “#MANIT_Bhopal PhD Scholars are being harassed by faculty Dr Ujjwal Kumar Kalla. PhD Scholars have submitted complaints to the deputy commissioner of police against him."
